I’ve been a nurse in the neonatal ICU for the majority of the last decade. I’ve been beside my patients and their families in some of their best moments as well as some of their worst. I’ve had the privilege of seeing many babies take their first breath, and the honor of caring for some as they’ve taken their last. Witnessing these life changing moments has given me a deeper appreciation for all the challenges we’re presented with in life and how they mold us. Now I’m faced with a challenge of my own. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in August 2021. I believe we’re given challenges in life in order to grow and become better versions of ourselves, and I believe this experience will help shape me into a better nurse, wife, and friend. I’m not defined by my circumstance. I’m defined by my response. I’m defined by my action. I will beat this. #IAMNOBULL
